Leaves alternate; petioles 8-10 mm long, broad at base; leaf blade lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 10-25 cm x 1-3 cm, base narrowly cuneate, margin entire, eciliate, apex narrowly acuminate; both surfaces gland-dotted, blade without dark blotch adaxially. Ochrea tubular, light brown, 10-30 mm, membranous, base inflated, mouth truncate, eciliate, surface glabrous, veins numerous. Inflorescences mostly terminal, sometimes also axillary, erect to slightly nodding, usually uninterrupted, spicate, 3-10 cm, usually with several dense spikes, aggregated and panicle-like, peduncle 1-5 cm, glabrous, ochreolae usually funnelform, not ciliate, usually each 3- or 4-flowered. Pedicels erect to spreading, longer than bract, 3-4 mm long, articulate at apex. Perianth pink, glabrous, campanulate, non-accrescent; tepals 5, connate ca. 1/3 their length, obovate or elliptic, 3-4 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse to rounded, veins slender, furcate at apex, not curved downward. Stamens 6-8, included; filaments ca. 2 mm long, free, outer ones adnate to perianth tube; anthers bithecous, ovate, ca. 7 mm long. Carpels 2 or 3, syncarpous; ovary ca. 1 mm long, biconvex; styles 2(-3), erect, ca. 2 mm long, connate below nearly to middle; stigmas capitate.
